What is Yoga?
Yoga is an ancient practice that unites the body, mind, and spirit to achieve physical health, mental clarity, and spiritual self-realisation. The word "yoga" comes from the Sanskrit root yuj, meaning "to yoke" or "to unite," symbolizing the union of the body, mind, soul, and universal consciousness. Yoga is not merely physical exercise; it is a holistic system of practices designed to harmonise all aspects of human existence, fostering inner peace, self-awareness, and liberation (moksha),
Yoga combines multiple elements: Asanas (postures): Physical exercises that improve flexibility, strength, and balance. Pranayama (breathing techniques): Controlled breathing to regulate energy and calm the mind. Meditation and mindfulness: Practices to focus the mind, reduce stress, and cultivate self-awareness
Benefits of regular Yoga practice
Yoga offers a wide range of benefits:
-
Physical health: Enhances flexibility, strength, posture, and overall fitness
-
Mental clarity: Reduces stress, improves focus, and promotes emotional resilience
